What Is Wrong with the Gender Recognition Bill 2014

May 20, 2014

This Bill is going to Report and Final Stages in the Seanad, on Tuesday, February 17. This leaflet shows how flawed it is in regard to its non-definition of ‘transition to preferred gender’, and how it would allow youngsters as young as 16 to acquire a certificate of gender identity. “Transition” can include cosmetic surgery that leaves the person involved incapable of having children in the normal way. This is barbarous and exploitative, especially in the case of teenagers with gender confusion. For most teenagers gender confusion just vanishes once they have left the teenage years behind; same-sex attractions also vanish in most youngsters after the teenage years.
